A Freedom, Pennsylvania resident has been sentenced to over six years in federal prison for receiving material depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor. Mark Kriss, 66, received a sentence of 74 months imprisonment followed by ten years of supervised release. Chief United States District Judge Mark R. Hornak also ordered Kriss to register as a sex offender under Pennsylvania law and pay $3,000 in restitution to the minor victim.

The court was informed that Kriss contacted a 14-year-old minor through an adult dating website and received digital photographs from her on May 22, 2021, which depicted her sexual exploitation. Kriss admitted responsibility for meeting the minor with the intent to engage in sex acts at a local motel.

Assistant United States Attorney Carolyn J. Bloch represented the government in this case. United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan acknowledged the efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Northern Regional Police Department for their investigation leading to Kriss's prosecution.
