A Pittsburgh resident has admitted guilt in a federal court for violating firearms laws, as announced by United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan. George Sotiris Vlastos, aged 38, entered a guilty plea to one count before United States District Judge Cathy Bissoon.

The court was informed that Vlastos knowingly provided false information on the ATF Form 4473, also known as the Firearms Transaction Record. These statements were made regarding his status as a convicted felon in an attempt to obtain a firearm. Federal law prohibits individuals with felony convictions from possessing firearms or ammunition.

Judge Bissoon has set the sentencing date for April 2, 2025. The potential maximum sentence includes up to ten years in prison and a fine of $250,000. The actual sentence will depend on the severity of the offense and Vlastos's criminal history.

Assistant United States Attorney Kelly M. Locher is leading the prosecution for this case. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives conducted the investigation resulting in Vlastos's prosecution.
