Washington state man sentenced for role in fentanyl trafficking conspiracy

A SeaTac, Washington resident has been sentenced to 14 years in federal prison for his involvement in a fentanyl trafficking conspiracy. Sahal Sahal, aged 38, received the sentence from Senior United States District Judge Kim R. Gibson on November 14, 2024. Following his prison term, Sahal will undergo five years of supervised release.

The court was informed that between October 2022 and June 2023, Sahal conspired with others to distribute and possess with intent to distribute over 400 grams of fentanyl in the Western District of Pennsylvania. Federal wiretaps intercepted Sahal acquiring quantities of fentanyl for distribution.

Assistant United States Attorney Arnold P. Bernard Jr. represented the government in this case. United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan praised the investigative efforts of several agencies including the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Laurel Highlands Resident Agency and Homeland Security Investigations. Other participating agencies were the Internal Revenue Service – Criminal Investigation and the United States Postal Inspection Service, alongside local law enforcement.

This case is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) investigation which aims to identify and dismantle major drug traffickers and criminal organizations through a collaborative approach involving multiple law enforcement agencies.
