Receiver Ben Skowronek has returned to practice with the Pittsburgh Steelers, though he remains on the Reserve/Injured List. The team now has a 21-day period to decide whether to activate him to the 53-man roster or keep him on the list for the rest of the season.
Skowronek started this season on the practice squad and was elevated for games against the Atlanta Falcons and Denver Broncos in Weeks 1 and 2, respectively. He was placed on the Reserve/Injured List on September 18.
Originally drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the seventh round of the 2021 NFL Draft as the 249th overall pick, Skowronek played in 45 games for them, starting in 12. During his time with the Rams, he recorded 58 receptions for a total of 575 yards. This offseason, he was traded to the Houston Texans.
In college, Skowronek played at Northwestern before transferring to Notre Dame for his final season. At Notre Dame, he participated in 11 games and made 29 receptions totaling 439 yards with five touchdowns. Notably, two touchdowns were scored against the University of Pittsburgh at Acrisure Stadium where he had two receptions for a total of 107 yards.
