Blake Lizotte, a forward for the Pittsburgh Penguins, recently returned to the ice after recovering from a concussion. His comeback has been marked by back-to-back wins for the team and his first goal against Montreal. Lizotte, who played in over 300 games with the Los Angeles Kings before joining the Penguins, is known for his tenacity and energy.

“I think tenacity and energy are the two biggest things I bring to the group,” said Lizotte about his role with the Penguins. Head coach Mike Sullivan praised him, saying, “He brings a lot of speed. He's hard-working guy. He's conscientious defensively. He's hard to play against, and I think he's going to bring that element to our team.”

Lizotte's journey in hockey began with playing for Fargo Force in USHL from 2015-2017 before moving on to St. Cloud State University. Despite going undrafted, he signed with the Kings in 2019.

In a recent Q&A session, Lizotte shared insights into his life and career. He explained that his nickname 'Lizzo' originated from his last name during junior hockey days.

Growing up in Minnesota instilled a love for hockey early on as he spent time playing on frozen ponds with neighborhood kids. Reflecting on challenges faced as an undersized forward who went undrafted, Lizotte emphasized self-belief: "People are going to tell you your whole life, ‘You can't do this,’ but you just got to believe in yourself."

Adjusting to life in Pittsburgh after years in Los Angeles has been smooth for Lizotte and his wife due to its Midwest feel reminiscent of home.

The couple enjoys exploring local eateries like Off The Hook and Pusadee’s Garden while appreciating Pittsburgh's slower pace compared to LA.

When not on ice or indulging at Cold Stone Creamery or Chick-fil-A – his favorite cheat meals – Lizotte spends leisure time golfing or listening country music artists such as Zach Bryan.

Lizotte also revealed Italy's Sorrento as a preferred vacation spot due its cuisine offerings alongside Harry Potter series being part of their holiday tradition viewing lineup each year until Christmas arrives again soon enough!
