The Pittsburgh Penguins will honor the iconic rock band Grateful Dead by hosting a themed night on November 16 during their game against the San Jose Sharks at PPG Paints Arena. The event will begin with doors opening at 5:30 PM, and the game starting at 7:00 PM.

Fans purchasing a special ticket package will receive a unique Grateful Dead-themed hockey jersey. This black and gold jersey features a Dancing Bear holding a hockey stick. The ticket packages, which include this specialty jersey, are priced starting at $82.

Entertainment for the evening includes performances by TheCAUSE, a Pittsburgh-based jam band influenced by classic rock and the Grateful Dead. They will perform from the BetRivers Deck in the lower concourse before the game and during both intermissions.

Aramark will offer Grateful Dead-inspired menus in select clubs within PPG Paints Arena. Additionally, themed cocktails such as ‘Dark N’ Spacey’ and ‘Mars Hotel Marg’ will be available for fans aged 21 and over throughout various locations in the arena.

The Grateful Dead has left an indelible mark on American music culture since its formation in 1965. Known for fostering a strong connection with their fanbase known as "Dead Heads," they have achieved significant milestones including being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1994 and receiving a Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007. In 2024, they celebrated their unprecedented achievement of having their 61st Top 40 album on Billboard's chart.
