Cost of college went up for non-resident students at the University of Pittsburgh-Pittsburgh Campus

In-state tuition and fees were unchanged for 2018-19 at the University of Pittsburgh-Pittsburgh Campus, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Pennsylvania residents paid $19,080 to attend the four-year public institution in both the 2017-18 and 2018-19 academic years.

Non-residents paid 68 percent more than residents this year, or $32,052. Their price tag grew 4.6 percent from $30,642 in 2017-18.

About 60 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Pennsylvania residents. About 35 percent are residents of other states and 5 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 78 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 2,097 students received grants or scholarships totaling $24.6 million and 2,254 students took out student loans totaling more than $23.4 million.

Including all undergraduates (28,673), 10,538 students used grants or scholarships totaling $117.7 million, and 9,703 students took out $65 million in federal student loans.
