Cost of college went up for all students at Community College of Allegheny County

In-state tuition and fees rose 2.7 percent for 2018-19 at Community College of Allegheny County, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Pennsylvania residents paid $7,861 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $208 more than the $7,653 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 43.1 percent more than residents this year, or $11,251. Their price tag grew 2.7 percent from $10,953 in 2017-18.

About 99 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Pennsylvania residents. And about 1 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 66 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 1,038 students received grants or scholarships totaling $5.2 million and 604 students took out student loans totaling more than $3.1 million.

Including all undergraduates (16,086), 6,050 students used grants or scholarships totaling $23.6 million, and 3,616 students took out $21 million in federal student loans.
