17 percent of applicants to Carnegie Mellon University were admitted for fall 2018

At Carnegie Mellon University, 98 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 51 percent are male, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year private not-for-profit institution in Pittsburgh enrolled 14,029 students in fall 2018, including 6,589 in undergraduate and 7,440 in graduate programs, data shows. 1 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

10 percent of undergraduates are residents of Pennsylvania, and 72 percent are residents of other states. 18 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as Asian (31 percent) and white (27 percent).

The school admitted 17 percent of the 24,351 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 38 percent enrolled.
