Craig Wolfley, a former NFL player and beloved broadcaster, passed away on March 10 at the age of 66. Known for his tough presence on the field and gentle demeanor off it, Wolfley was remembered by many in the Pittsburgh Steelers community.

"We are deeply saddened by the passing of Craig Wolfley, a beloved member of the Pittsburgh Steelers family," said President Art Rooney II. "Craig was an outstanding player who brought both toughness and heart to the field during his 10 seasons with the Steelers."

Wolfley began his career as a fifth-round pick in the 1980 NFL Draft from Syracuse University. He played alongside Tunch Ilkin for over five years, forming a strong friendship that extended into their broadcasting careers. Their show "In the Locker Room with Tunch and Wolf" became popular among fans.

"Training camp was always easy (doing the two-hour talk show with Wolf every day)," Mr. Ilkin once remarked about their time together as broadcasters.

After Ilkin's death in 2021, Wolfley continued to contribute to Steelers Nation Radio with Max Starks and later joined Bill Hillgrove in the booth. His broadcasting style was known for its energy and unique vocabulary.

"Just the energy and passion that he brought to life," said Charlie Batch. "Not just from a Steelers perspective, but he genuinely cared about people."

Wolfley's influence extended beyond football. He participated in community events and charity work, endearing himself to many who knew him personally.

Bill Hillgrove noted: "Not only in the booth, but out of the booth, Wolf was a special person."

Wolfley is survived by his wife Faith, daughters Megan, Hannah, Esther, and sons Kyle, CJ, and Max.
