The Pittsburgh Penguins are set to face the Colorado Avalanche as they embark on a three-game road trip. The game will take place at Ball Arena, with puck drop scheduled for 9:00 PM Eastern time. Fans can watch the match on SportsNet Pittsburgh and ESPN+, or listen via 105.9 the X and the Penguins app.

Currently, the Penguins hold a record of 24-28-10, while the Avalanche stand at 35-24-2. Historically, Pittsburgh has performed well against Colorado, securing points in 13 of their last 20 encounters since April 6, 2014.

In recent team developments, goaltender Tristan Jarry has been recalled from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League. Head Coach Mike Sullivan explained that this decision was made with player development in mind: "There are multiple things that went into it," he said. "But part of our job as coaches and a management group is making sure that we're putting young players in the best possible position to be successful."

Defenseman P.O Joseph is currently on injured reserve due to an upper-body injury sustained against Boston, while forward Michael Bunting remains out following appendix surgery. Alex Nedeljkovic will start in goal for tonight's game.

Tonight's matchup will feature Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon facing off for the 19th time. Additionally, defensemen Cale Makar and Erik Karlsson are among the league's top performers at even strength this season.

Coach Mike Sullivan is approaching a milestone as he seeks his 400th win with one franchise—a feat achieved by only thirteen other NHL head coaches.

Bryan Rust will play his 620th game for Pittsburgh tonight, surpassing Ron Schock for tenth-most games played in franchise history. Rust has been productive recently with nine points in his last eight games against Colorado.

Sidney Crosby continues to climb historical rankings after surpassing Bobby Hull and Gordie Howe in goals and assists respectively during his last outing.

Evgeni Malkin has also been performing well since returning from break with seven points over six games.

Ryan Shea recorded a career-high ice time against Toronto recently and has set personal bests across several statistical categories this season.

The Penguins have historically fared well when both Crosby and Malkin score during games—holding an overall record of 400-92-49 under such circumstances.
