Rep. Summer Lee, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Pennsylvania’s 12th district since 2023, shared a series of tweets addressing concerns about the potential loss of critical support for millions of Americans. She replaced former Congress member Mike Doyle and has been active in discussing social welfare issues.

On January 28, 2025, Rep. Lee expressed her concern about the potential impact on numerous Americans relying on government assistance programs. She stated, "The 42 million Americans who rely on SNAP, 72 million enrolled in Medicaid, 5 million households who rely on rental assistance, and 6.6 million low-income women and children who rely on WIC ALL stand at risk of losing access to the critical support they need."

Later that day, she addressed the abrupt removal of health insurance coverage for Medicaid recipients with another tweet. On January 28, she tweeted that "72 million Medicaid recipients across the country got their health insurance ripped away overnight with no warning."

In another tweet posted on January 28, Rep. Lee referenced the Constitution with a link to its text alongside an image link. She simply wrote "The literal Constitution:" providing no further context.
