Currently, the Penguins hold a record of 5-7-1 while the Islanders stand at 4-6-2. In recent history, dating back to November 1, 2018, they have only six regulation losses in their last 25 matchups with the Islanders.

Several players from both teams have notable statistics against each other. Kris Letang leads all active NHL defensemen in goals, assists, and points versus the Islanders. Kevin Hayes has scored more goals against them than any other team in his career. Valtteri Puustinen has also shown strong performance with half of his career goals scored against New York.

Sidney Crosby is approaching significant milestones as he enters tonight's game just three goals shy of becoming the 21st player in NHL history to reach 600 goals. He aims to join Alex Ovechkin as one of only two active players achieving this milestone.

Crosby was named NHL’s Third Star of the Week ending November 3rd after scoring multiple goals in consecutive games for the seventh time in his career. He has also moved up on several all-time lists recently and could tie or surpass more records during tonight's game.

Goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic has been pivotal for Pittsburgh lately with impressive stats over recent games leading to a solid defensive showing by allowing only two goals across their last two matches.

Cody Glass will mark his 200th career game tonight as he continues contributing significantly to Pittsburgh's penalty-killing efforts which rank sixth in the league currently.

Overall, Crosby remains dominant when facing off against New York Islanders having recorded numerous multi-point games throughout his career helping lead Pittsburgh historically successful outings versus them.
