Penguins host Canadiens amid special 'Pittsburgh Night' celebrations

The Pittsburgh Penguins are set to face the Montreal Canadiens tonight at 7:00 PM. The game will be held at PPG Paints Arena, with doors opening at 5:30 PM. Fans can watch the match on SportsNet Pittsburgh and NHL Network for those outside the market or listen on 105.9 the X and via the Penguins app.

Both teams come into this game with similar records, as Pittsburgh stands at 4-7-1 while Montreal holds a record of 4-6-1. Historically, the Penguins have had success against the Canadiens, winning three of their last four home games against them since December 2021. They have also secured points in 17 of their last 21 encounters with Montreal.

Several players from both teams are expected to make an impact during tonight's matchup. Erik Karlsson has amassed significant career points against Montreal, totaling 41 points in his career against them. Lars Eller has been productive when facing his former team, recording notable points over recent games.

Sidney Crosby remains a key player for Pittsburgh, having recently achieved milestones such as surpassing Joe Sakic for multi-point games in NHL history and climbing up various all-time lists. Crosby is tied for first in the league over his last two games with five points.

Kris Letang will reach a milestone by playing his 1,100th regular-season game tonight. He becomes just the sixth active defenseman to achieve this feat and continues to contribute significantly to his team's efforts.

As part of "Pittsburgh Night," fans attending will experience special events including appearances by local mascots and interactive exhibits courtesy of several local organizations like U.S. Steel and Mr. Yuk.

John Geiger, a renowned designer from Pittsburgh, will unveil a limited-edition merchandise line during intermission outside PensGear.

Additionally, as part of their sustainability initiative known as Penguins Pledge, live penguin ambassadors from the National Aviary will be present at PPG Paints Arena for fans to meet before puck drop and during intermissions.

The first 7,500 attendees will receive a Pittsburgh Night Rally Towel presented by U.S. Steel as part of tonight's festivities.
