After eight weeks into the NFL season, the Pittsburgh Steelers stand at 6-2, with one loss each at home and on the road. The team is yet to play a divisional game but holds a 4-1 record in AFC games. Currently, they lead the AFC North and would be the No. 3 seed if the playoffs began today. Regardless of next week's results, they will remain atop their division standings.

The Steelers boast a plus-68-point differential, trailing only Buffalo in the AFC and ranking fourth overall in the league. Their performance includes scoring five more touchdowns than opponents and gaining 381 additional rushing yards. With an average time of possession of 31:42 per game, they rank seventh in this category.

Pittsburgh's turnover differential stands at plus-10, second-best in the NFL after Buffalo. They have excelled in takeaways and interceptions while maintaining low giveaway numbers. "The Steelers are one of three teams to have thrown just one interception this season," according to recent statistics.

Offensively, Pittsburgh averages 5.2 yards per play but has improved to 5.9 over their last three games. The team favors running plays over passing, with only Philadelphia passing less frequently.

Quarterback Russell Wilson ranks highly among his peers for various metrics including yards per attempt and quickness in releasing passes. George Pickens emerges as a key receiver with notable stats across several categories.

On defense, Pittsburgh allows an average of 5.3 yards per play and ranks ninth for fewest yards allowed per game at 310.3. "The Chargers and Bears are the only two defenses to give up fewer touchdowns (12) than Pittsburgh's defense."

Star players like Cameron Heyward set franchise records while TJ Watt leads the league with sacks since early 2023 despite missing significant playing time last year.

Special teams also contribute significantly; kicker Chris Boswell aims for an NFL record for most field goals made in a season without missing extra points thus far.
