Steelers cornerback Beanie Bishop and kicker Chris Boswell have been recognized for their performances in October. Bishop was named the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month, while Boswell received the title of AFC Special Teams Player of the Month.

Bishop, an undrafted free agent from West Virginia, achieved three interceptions in two games. In a notable performance against the New York Jets' quarterback Aaron Rodgers during Week 7 at Acrisure Stadium, Bishop secured his first career interception along with another one. Coach Mike Tomlin praised Bishop's efforts, stating: "Can't say enough about young Beanie Bishop. That's an awesome evening for him to get his first two interceptions versus a Gold Jacket guy like Aaron Rodgers."

Tomlin highlighted Bishop's growth and adaptability as a rookie: "He's grown in all areas...he never shrinks...he's doing a lot of the little things well." During that game, Bishop recorded six tackles and two interceptions. His first interception led to a touchdown drive by Russell Wilson, narrowing the score gap to 15-13 at halftime. Later, another interception set up Wilson's one-yard touchdown run.

Reflecting on his achievement against Rodgers, Bishop said: "He's one of the Hall of Fame quarterbacks...just to be able to get not one but two of them off of him is crazy." In Week 8 against the New York Giants on Monday Night Football, Bishop intercepted Daniel Jones in the final moments to secure a Steelers victory.

Boswell maintained consistency throughout October after being named AFC Special Teams Player of the Month in September as well. He successfully completed all 12 field goal attempts and all 10 extra point attempts during this period.

His performance included crucial contributions such as four field goals against Las Vegas Raiders and three field goals each in games against New York Jets and New York Giants. Special teams coordinator Danny Smith commented on their effective collaboration: "We have a program that we follow...it's been very good and it's working."

Since joining Pittsburgh Steelers in 2015, Boswell has made significant strides with an 87% success rate on field goal attempts (254-289). This marks his third time winning AFC Special Teams Player of The Month; he previously earned this recognition twice before - once during December/January 2015-16 season - then again last month (September).
