Allegheny Campus Child Development Center issued the following announcement on May 5.
The Community College of Allegheny County and Carnegie Mellon University will host “The Future of Artificial Intelligence and the Workforce” on Thursday, May 12, from 6 to 7 p.m. The virtual discussion will focus on artificial intelligence (AI) in the workplace, including if and to what extent future college graduates will be working for or alongside an intelligent system.
While artificial intelligence may seem to some people like an issue far in the future, it is a current technology that is poised to impact the careers of today’s graduates. Many students or individuals re-engaging with the workforce have questions about how AI and automation will shape the job market, and it can be difficult to separate fact from fiction.
Composed of industry experts drawn from companies here in “Roboburgh,” the panel will address these and other questions submitted in advance by current CCAC and CMU students and other event attendees. The panel features Mark Kamlet, University Professor of Economics and Public Policy and Provost Emeritus, CMU; Joel Reed, Executive Director, Pittsburgh Robotics Network; and Michael Sebetich, Director of Software Engineering at Argo AI, a leader in the development of self-driving vehicle technology. Dr. Justin Starr, Endowed Professor of Advanced Technologies, CCAC, will serve as moderator.
