Summer Lee, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Pennsylvania's 12th district, has made several public statements through social media regarding political participation, Easter celebrations, and the passing of a global religious leader.

On April 19, 2025, Rep. Summer Lee addressed the importance of public involvement in governance. She stated, "The people’s power is the greatest check on someone moving towards authoritarianism—and I will do everything in my power to support the people." This statement was made in the context of her participation in a town hall event alongside Mayor Ed Gainey.

On April 20, 2025, Lee extended holiday greetings to her constituents and others around the world who observe Easter. Her message was, "Happy Easter! Wishing all who celebrate Resurrection Sunday in #PA12 and across the world a bright and blessed day."

The following day, April 21, 2025, Lee reflected on the death of Pope Francis. She expressed that "Pope Francis’ exemplary leadership taught us to care for our most vulnerable, be stewards of the earth, and oppose injustice everywhere. His passing will be felt by many worldwide. May he rest in eternal peace."

Congresswoman Lee, 35, has represented Pennsylvania’s 12th District since 2023 after succeeding Mike Doyle. Prior to her tenure in Congress, she served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 2019 to 2022. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Lee graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a BA in 2009 and earned a JD from Howard University in 2015. She currently resides in Swissvale.
