The Pittsburgh Steelers have experienced periods of frequent draft trades, especially during the Buddy Parker era from 1957 to 1964 when the team traded away future draft picks. However, under coach Chuck Noll, who took charge after Parker, the Steelers adopted a different approach. In Noll's 23 seasons, he traded a draft pick only once – trading a third-round pick to Oakland in 1973 for Tom Keating.
