Allegheny Health Network (AHN) has announced a significant expansion of its Cancer Institute at AHN Grove City Hospital. The $4 million project aims to double the clinic's size from 1,145 to 3,854 square feet and is expected to be complete by the end of 2025. Construction will commence this week.
The expansion will revamp space near the hospital's cafeteria to create a larger, patient-centered cancer treatment facility. Enhancements will include increased chemotherapy infusion bays from six to eight, with each offering private walls for better privacy and comfort. The number of exam rooms will grow from two to three, which is expected to reduce wait times. Additionally, the check-in area will be expanded, and a new entrance will be installed to facilitate easier access to parking.
"This expansion represents a significant investment in our commitment to providing exceptional cancer care for residents of Grove City and its surrounding communities," stated Christopher Clark, DO, MHA, president of AHN Grove City. "Our extraordinary caregivers helped us conceptualize and design a beautiful, healing environment that prioritizes the comfort, health and well-being of our patients, and we can’t wait to open its doors later this year."
Funding for the expansion includes a $1 million donation from the Grove City Health Care Foundation. Services at the AHN Cancer Institute – Grove City will continue without disruption during the construction. Available services include medical oncology, infusion therapy, nutritional counseling, social service support, and access to cancer clinical trials.
AHN Grove City Hospital has seen a steady increase in patient volume since the AHN Cancer Institute opened in July 2020. "The expanded Cancer Institute at AHN Grove City will not only improve the patient experience but also allow us to increase our capacity to serve a growing number of patients in need of high-quality cancer care in this region,” said David Bartlett, MD, chair of the AHN Cancer Institute and president of the AHN Research Institute. “We greatly appreciate the investment that the Grove City Health Care Foundation and AHN have made to bring this vital resource to the Grove City community."
