AHN Saint Vincent Hospital in Erie, Pennsylvania, part of the Allegheny Health Network, is marking National Doctors' Day with a breakfast and luncheon event. Scheduled for March 27, the highlight will be a ceremony at the McGarvey Learning Center at 11 a.m., recognizing two of the hospital’s physicians: Dr. Melissa Fowler and Dr. Frederick Havko.

National Doctors' Day, held yearly on March 30, is aimed at appreciating physicians' dedication to healthcare. This year, Dr. Melissa Fowler, a clinical pathologist, and Dr. Frederick Havko, an emergency medicine physician, will be recognized as outstanding practitioners. As part of the celebration, each will receive a $500 donation to a charity of their choice, with Dr. Fowler choosing Second Harvest Food Bank and Dr. Havko selecting St. Paul’s Free Clinic.

Dr. Fowler obtained her medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine. Her post-graduate training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology was completed at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Currently, she practices with the Pathology Associates of Erie at AHN Saint Vincent, where she is also the Chair of the Department of Pathology. Her professional affiliations include the American College of Clinical Pathologists and the American Society for Clinical Pathologists.

Dr. Havko graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and underwent residency at York Hospital. A former U.S. Navy flight surgeon, Dr. Havko joined AHN Saint Vincent in 1995. At the hospital, he has held leadership roles such as Chairperson of the Division of Emergency Medicine and Chairman of the Department of Medicine. He is also an adjunct clinical assistant professor at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine since 1999.

AHN Saint Vincent President, Dr. Chris Clark, stated, "The impact of these two physicians on the lives of our patients and the reputation of AHN Saint Vincent is undeniable. Honoring both these distinguished physicians not only reflects their individual excellence but also the extraordinary strength of our medical staff."
