Allegheny Health Network (AHN) has announced the most popular baby names from its maternity care units for 2024. "Oliver" topped the list for boys, while "Olivia" was the favorite for girls.
The top five names for boys were Oliver, Jack, Theodore, Owen, and Liam. For girls, the leading names were Olivia, Amelia, Evelyn, Charlotte, and Nora.

In 2024, AHN's facilities saw nearly 8,400 births. Names like Owen and Charlotte remained popular from the previous year. Notably, Noah fell from first place in 2023 to fifteenth in 2024 among boys' names. Amelia saw a significant rise among girls' names.
Unique naming trends emerged with over 2,100 original names recorded within the network. Alphabetically common names included Aaliyah and Aaron; less common ones were Zyla and Zion.
Nationally, Oliver ranks third in popularity behind Noah and Liam. Olivia holds the top spot both at AHN and nationwide.
AHN Women's Institute offers comprehensive maternity care throughout the region. Their services include specialized infant care and postpartum support in collaboration with various health departments.
Facilities such as AHN Forbes provide Level II NICUs for non-critical cases while Saint Vincent and West Penn offer Level III NICUs for critical care. Pediatricians from AHN Pediatric Institute ensure continued wellness checks post-discharge.
