FOIA Request to Allegheny County Election Department Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.

On February 5, 2025, we at the Pittsburgh Review submitted a request under the Pennsylvania Right to Know Law to the Allegheny County Election Department. Our request pertains to obtaining comprehensive information about all candidates running in the upcoming spring election.

We are seeking details such as the candidates' full names (first, middle, and last), the office they are running for, their jurisdiction of office, and their party affiliation. Additionally, we have also requested contact information for each candidate including their address, phone number, and email address.

As a media organization committed to providing accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, access to public records is essential for us. This information will enable us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

We believe that as members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals. We eagerly await a response from the Allegheny County Election Department regarding our request.
