Rep. Summer Lee, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Pennsylvania's 12th district since 2023, recently shared her thoughts on various issues through a series of tweets. Her remarks covered topics ranging from judicial outcomes to office closures and prescription drug costs.
On December 9, 2024, Rep. Summer Lee expressed her concern regarding the acquittal of Daniel Penny in the murder case of Jordan Neely. She stated: "The acquittal of Daniel Penny in the murder of Jordan Neely is a painful reminder of a long-standing reality: vigilante violence against Black people often goes unchecked. Jordan deserved compassion, not violence. We stand with his loved ones in demanding accountability."
On December 10, 2024, she informed constituents that "Our satellite office in Bethel Park will be closed today. If you have any inquiries, please contact our main district office number!" This notification was directed at residents within her district.
Later that day, Rep. Lee commented on the issue of rising prescription drug costs by stating: "When you go to the pharmacy and end up paying an arm and a leg for the prescription drugs that you need, remember that it was in no small part due to a PBM jacking up the costs by acting as a monopolistic middleman." Her statement highlights concerns about Pharmacy Benefit Managers' roles in increasing drug prices.
