When Patrick Queen saw the Steelers' 2024 schedule, he marked the Week 11 game against the Baltimore Ravens at Acrisure Stadium. This matchup will be his first against his former team, which drafted him in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Queen spent four seasons with the Ravens before becoming a free agent in March after they declined to pick up his fifth-year option.
"You get over all that stuff and you just play football," said Queen. "I mean, I do have feelings about it, but at the same time it's just another game that we need."
Queen started every game for the Ravens since being drafted, amassing 453 tackles and earning an Associated Press second-team All-Pro selection last season. Despite his success, he wasn't offered a return to Baltimore. "I am happy to be here," Queen said of joining the Steelers.
Rookie Beanie Bishop is eager to learn about the Steelers-Ravens rivalry. "It's hatred," said Bishop, who plans to speak with Queen about it. Bishop respects Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, having watched him during his high school years in Louisville.
Preston Smith and Mike Williams are new additions to this rivalry. Smith has watched past games on TV and is excited to participate now. Williams was informed by staff about how intense these matchups can be.
Jeremiah Moon joined the Steelers this offseason after spending last year with the Ravens. He acknowledges the significance of this rivalry but emphasizes that every game is crucial under Coach Mike Tomlin's leadership.
The Steelers recently signed receiver Jamal Agnew and running back Jonathan Ward to their practice squad while releasing two other players.
