The Pittsburgh Steelers are preparing for their upcoming game against the New York Jets with uncertainty surrounding their starting quarterback. Head coach Mike Tomlin has yet to announce whether Russell Wilson or Justin Fields will lead the team on Sunday night. Both quarterbacks have participated fully in practice this week, and Tomlin reiterated that a decision would be made closer to game time.

Russell Wilson expressed his readiness, stating, "We're preparing to get ready to go. We're all just doing a great job." Meanwhile, Justin Fields, who has started the first six games of the season while Wilson recovered from a calf injury, is also prepared for any role he might play. "Do the same thing I was doing," Fields said regarding his preparation.

Wilson was initially named the starter but aggravated a calf injury before the season opener. In his absence, Fields completed 66.3 percent of his passes for 1,106 yards with five touchdowns and one interception while rushing for five scores. Last week, Wilson returned as the No. 2 quarterback during a victory over the Raiders.

Fields acknowledged that he could improve his performance: "I don't think I've played good enough... At the end of the day, we got a few wins."

The Steelers rank low in total yards and passing yards per game this season. Offensive coordinator Arthur Smith commented on areas needing improvement: "I think Justin has done a good job... We wish we were 6-0."

As they face a strong Jets defense allowing only 148.8 passing yards per game, Wilson emphasized focusing on winning: "For us... we want to get better and continue to grow."

Both quarterbacks are preparing diligently as they aim to secure another win for their team.
