The Steelers' offense, under coordinator Arthur Smith, showed potential in the second half of their game against Indianapolis. However, they struggled to maintain consistency during their subsequent matchup with Dallas. "Every game's its own story," Smith stated.

In the 20-17 loss to the Cowboys, Smith reflected on missed opportunities. "The first series, came away with points, not seven," he said. He noted the team's aggressive start and some execution issues that resulted in only three points early on.

A notable play involved tight end Connor Heyward, who couldn't secure a deep pass from quarterback Justin Fields. Another opportunity was missed when Fields overthrew tight end Darnell Washington on a potential touchdown pass.

Despite these setbacks, the Steelers managed a 16-yard touchdown pass from Fields to Heyward in the third quarter and later took a lead with a 6-yard touchdown pass to Pat Freiermuth. However, these efforts were not enough for victory.

Smith acknowledged both strengths and areas for improvement in Fields' performance: "Like a lot of our guys there has been some really good football played and there are things we gotta keep working on." He praised Fields' work ethic and lack of drama.

This week also saw quarterback Russell Wilson return to full practice participation after recovering from a calf injury sustained before the season opener. "Took some of the reps Kyle (Allen) had been taking," Smith explained about Wilson's involvement in practice drills.

Smith emphasized that each player's situation is unique: "Just kinda have to take it day by day."
