The Pirates' Spring Training facilities in Bradenton, Florida, suffered damage due to Hurricane Milton's impact on the Gulf Coast. LECOM Park and Pirate City both sustained structural harm, including damage to the batter’s eye and fencing at Pirate City and the outfield wall at LECOM Park.

Brian Warecki, senior vice president of communications and broadcasting for the Pirates, stated: “While we appreciate the curiosity, this pales in comparison to what others are facing in the wake of both Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton.” He added that they are working with local first responders and are willing to assist as needed.

The Pirates use these facilities each spring, starting at Pirate City before moving to LECOM Park for the Grapefruit League season. After Major League camp transitions to LECOM Park, Minor League Spring Training takes place at Pirate City. Despite the recent damage, it is expected that both locations will be ready for normal operations by Spring Training. The Pirates’ first home game is scheduled for February 23 against the Twins.

MLB encourages donations to support recovery efforts after Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Contributions can be made through redcross.org/MLB to aid disaster response and recovery initiatives by the Red Cross.
