The Pittsburgh Penguins will commence their home preseason tonight against the Buffalo Sabres at 7:00 PM. The game can be viewed on Sportsnet Pittsburgh+ locally and listened to via the Penguins app or 105.9 the X.

SportsNet Pittsburgh will air five of the seven preseason games, including a special Kraft Hockeyville match against the Ottawa Senators in Sudbury on September 29. The games not available for television are scheduled for September 28 in Detroit and October 3 in Columbus.

Josh Getzoff continues as the play-by-play voice on SportsNet Pittsburgh, joined by color commentators Colby Armstrong, Mike Rupp, and Phil Bourque. Hailey Hunter serves as rinkside reporter. Joe Brand will handle radio play-by-play duties alongside Bourque on 105.9 The X.

David Quinn has been added to Head Coach Mike Sullivan’s staff as an assistant coach overseeing defensemen. Quinn brings over three decades of coaching experience, having led teams like the San Jose Sharks and New York Rangers where players under his guidance won prestigious awards.

Quinn has also held multiple roles with Team USA at various international events, including head coach positions at recent World Championships and Olympic Games.

Two players, defenseman Nikolai Knyzhov and goaltender Luke Richardson, are attending training camp on professional tryouts. Knyzhov comes from a stint with the San Jose Sharks while Richardson has played across AHL and ECHL teams recently.

The Penguins made six selections at this year’s NHL Draft held in Las Vegas. Key picks include defenseman Harrison Brunicke (44th overall) and forward Tanner Howe (46th overall), both showing promising junior careers.

Pittsburgh’s prospects had a strong showing at the Prospects Challenge in Buffalo earlier this month, winning all three games they played.

Captain Sidney Crosby signed a two-year contract extension through the 2026-27 season valued at $8.7 million annually. Crosby holds numerous franchise records and is among NHL's top historical performers in several categories.

Mike Sullivan was named head coach of Team USA for upcoming international tournaments, including the Four Nations Face-Off next year and the 2026 Winter Olympics. David Quinn will assist him during these events.

Sullivan boasts a career record that includes significant achievements with both Pittsburgh Penguins and Boston Bruins teams.
