PITTSBURGH – Yasmani Grandal played the hero Sunday at PNC Park, launching a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth to beat the Reds, 4-3.

Luis Ortiz gave the Pirates six scoreless innings, but Kyle Nicolas and Jalen Beeks combined to allow three runs in the top of the seventh. Trailing in the bottom of the ninth, Bryan De La Cruz was clipped by an Alexis Díaz offering before Grandal jumped on a fastball and put it in the seats in right for his seventh home run of the year and his seventh career walk-off.

Joey Bart exited in the first inning with left hamstring discomfort while running down to first base on an RBI groundout.

The Pirates won three in the four-game series and are now 62-68 on the season.
