Linebacker T.J. Watt, entering his eighth season, noted that he brought less to training camp this year, emphasizing his familiarity with what he needs. Despite the minimal packing, Watt expressed enthusiasm about returning to Saint Vincent College.

"It feels good to be back," said Watt. "Every year, I mean this is year eight, it's crazy how fast it goes. I am excited more than ever this year to be back here. I always love the drive into Latrobe, and it means it's a great time."

Watt is optimistic about the defense's potential following offseason acquisitions and developments.

"We acquired some talent obviously in the draft and free agency and to see another year from the younger guys that are going to continue to get better and grow in the system," said Watt. "The more that we're able to grow together, especially on the defensive side, the better we are going to be."

With pads coming on for the first time Tuesday, Watt emphasized the importance of these sessions.

"It's all about when the pads come on," said Watt. "You guys all know that at this point. But I'm just excited to continue to grow. The defense needs continuity on and off the field. So that's what being here in these dorm rooms is all about."

New addition Patrick Queen brings energy and speed as a linebacker.

"(He is) fast, very fast, quick," said Watt. "Just to be able to have speed like that on the defensive side of the ball, sideline to sideline as an inside linebacker, is a huge asset. And then to be able to have a guy who can wear the green dot and be really well in communication, that's what we're here for."

Running back Najee Harris addressed media concerns regarding his fifth-year option not being picked up but remained focused on contributing this season.

"You just got to keep on pushing and coming out here and doing what's best for the team," said Harris. "Having a good year is what's most important right now."

Harris praised new quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Justin Fields for their leadership.

"Russ and Justin... probably one of our biggest pick-ups," said Harris. "Russ... His knowledge of the game is what you need at that position... Justin obviously is a really talented player... These guys are just leaders, good leaders on this team."

Linebacker Alex Highsmith also expressed confidence in both returning players and new additions.

"I always enjoy coming back every year," said Highsmith. "We've got a lot of new guys... I know the fans are going to be excited for tomorrow... We've got a lot of capable guys..."

Highsmith emphasized continuous improvement from last year's performance.

"It's just always wanting to get better," said Highsmith. "...We know that we can take the ball away more than we did last year..."

Rookie Troy Fautanu likened his first day at training camp to starting school with nervous excitement.

"I've been counting down the days..." said Fautanu. "...I had butterflies in my stomach... I'm just ready to go..."

Fautanu was pleasantly surprised by his accommodations at Saint Vincent College.

"It was cool... I thought they were going to give me that rookie treatment..."

Linebacker Elandon Roberts made an impression with his attire reflecting his Texan roots: overalls, cowboy hat, and boots.

Steelers Training Camp activities include open practices starting Thursday with specific schedules through next week.

Admission requires mobile tickets with various fan activities available during camp sessions.
