ECS June 2022 News

Kickball 1

Environmental Charter School at Frick Park issued the following announcement on June 10.

Dear ECS Families,

It feels like yesterday that I was welcoming you into the 21-22 school year, and just like that, we are inching closer to summer vacation. Like every school year, there were hurdles we faced and overcame, especially with the nuances of COVID-19 still lurking. While eating lunch with friends, attending school dances, and playing basketball seem like simple, normal activities, they were difficult to pull off in a safe manner that complied with recommended guidelines.

It was with a great deal of dedication and tactical planning by the tremendous ECS staff that the district was able to resume regular operations throughout the school year, and I cannot thank each of them enough for ensuring high quality education even through challenging times. Throughout the school year, students discovered a variety of cultural celebrations, traveled throughout Frick Park, made some new friends, attended dances, planted many trees, stood up to climate change, carved pumpkins, ate some yummy treats, and the list could go on and on.

Finally, I would like to extend my appreciation to each of you as ECS families. Without your dedication, support, and commitment to students and our district, this year would not have been possible. I thank you for your flexibility, understanding, resilience, and voice. ECS exists because of you, and I sincerely express my gratitude for your perseverance through uncharted waters with us.

Have a marvelous, fun, and safe summer. We’ll see you in the Fall for another extraordinary school year.

Be Well,

Jon McCann
