The city of Pittsburgh has a new economic opportunity manager, with Ricardo "Rick" Williams coming on board effective immediately to lead a team focused on creating economic opportunity for Pittsburgh residents, a press release from Mayor Ed Gainey's office said this week.
Williams is a Pittsburgh local who graduated from the city's public school system, the release said. He has more than a decade of experience in civic engagement and economic empowerment. His most recent role was as executive vice president of A Second Chance Inc., working with senior management to create systems and strategies for community engagement and case management. He has also worked in the mayor's office as the manager of equity and inclusion.
"I am proud to announce the appointment of Ricardo 'Rick' Williams to my Administration," Gainey said in the release. "One of my priorities as Mayor is ensuring that every one of our residents has access to economic opportunity. Williams and his team will be laser-focused on promoting equity throughout their work and ensuring tangible results for the people of Pittsburgh."
Williams' team will be working to give residents access to financial empowerment resources and workforce development programs, as well as education initiatives for youths and other residents of the city, the release said. Chief of Staff Jake Wheatley and Deputy Chief of Staff Felicity Williams will oversee the team.
