Like many other organizations making their way through the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the University of Pittsburgh's official fundraising arm, The Panther Club, is keeping safe but also keeping busy.

The Panther Club still maintains a list of "giving opportunities" on its year-old webpage.

"The Panther Club exists to provide the resources necessary for Pitt student-athletes to reach their full academic and athletic potential," says the giving opportunities page of the club's website.

Division I intercollegiate athletics "has evolved tremendously over the past 20 years," the page says. "The financial investment needed to achieve comprehensive excellence as well as the cost of scholarships have continued to rise. In order to remain competitive among the Atlantic Coast Conference and the rest of the NCAA, we must grow our Panther Club membership and increase participation from our donors, alumni, parents, and fans. No matter the amount, your contribution makes a difference and will help continue our positive momentum."

Giving opportunities on The Panther Club's website include scholarship-seating membership, championship giving, leadership giving, the student athlete success fund and Wheels of Support.

The Pittsburgh "Pitt" Panthers field 19 varsity teams, including a NCAA Division I football bowl team.

The Panther Club is the official University of Pittsburgh athletics fundraising arm. It launched its online presence, HailToPitt.com, in September 2019.

"This new website is a reflection of our ongoing commitment to provide donors and potential donors with the best experience possible, said Chris McFarlane, who in August 2018 was named university's executive associate athletics director for philanthropy and engagement, in a news release at the time. "We believe it will be a highly useful tool to promote the Panther Club's mission and further educate our fan base, as we work toward growing both membership and financial support."

In 2018, the Wall Street Journal named the University of Pittsburgh the best public university in the Northeast for the second consecutive year.
