The Pittsburgh Steelers have acquired wide receiver DK Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks, completing a trade that enhances their offensive lineup. Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 229 pounds, Metcalf brings significant speed and presence to the field. His addition is expected to complement George Pickens, creating a formidable duo for opposing defenses.

Metcalf's impact extends beyond his physical abilities. He expressed his intention to mentor Pickens, saying, "I'm just here to try to instill any wisdom or any knowledge that he allows me to." This mentorship could elevate Pickens' performance as he adjusts from being the primary target last season.

On defense, the Steelers have signed cornerback Darius Slay on a one-year deal. Slay's experience will benefit Joey Porter Jr., who has shown promise in his early career. Slay stated, "I love having extended family because I like just to meet people... my job is to make sure they'd be better than me."

Other additions include linebacker Malik Harrison, running back Kenneth Gainwell, and cornerback Brandin Echols. These players are expected to contribute significantly on special teams and in other roles.

The Steelers are poised for gains in compensatory picks for the 2026 NFL Draft due to free agent departures such as Dan Moore Jr., Justin Fields, James Daniels, and Donte Jackson. They are projected to receive multiple compensatory selections across various rounds.

For the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft, following their trade with Seattle involving Metcalf, the Steelers hold picks in every round except the second. They now possess pick No. 21 in the first round among others.
