When Logan Lee sustained a calf injury during the preseason, he did not expect it would prematurely end his rookie season. As the Pittsburgh Steelers' sixth-round pick from Iowa, Lee spent the year on the Reserve/Injured List, gaining insights into the workings of the NFL.
"I have just been extremely blessed with the opportunity to be able to see the way the business works and see that there are a lot of moving parts," said Lee. "I got to see a different point of view in the sense that I obviously wanted to play football. That was my ultimate goal this year. But the Lord had different plans, and ultimately it worked out the best it could have."
Despite missing out on playing time, Lee remained optimistic about his future in football. He focused on learning and preparing for future opportunities. "The biggest thing for me this season was being out so much, I had a lot of time to take more notes, see things from a different point of view," he stated.
Lee almost returned near the end of the 2024 season when he was designated to return before facing Cincinnati Bengals and later during preparations for a Wild Card game against the Ravens. Although not activated, he appreciated being back on the field.
"It was very encouraging because the first week, I felt like a fish out of water where I was a step behind everywhere," he remarked about his return practice sessions. He added that by the second week, "I felt like I got my feet under me."
Selected as the 178th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Lee brought experience from Iowa where he appeared in 43 games and started 41. His college career included notable achievements such as 158 tackles and nine sacks.
Now with more experience off-field learning, Lee is eager to advance his performance when team activities resume. "I am preparing myself, preparing my body," said Lee about his offseason training regimen.
Lee emphasized staying healthy and ready for upcoming team activities: "That's the ultimate goal, to stay safe, healthy and prepare as if I am getting ready to play."
