Rep. Summer Lee, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Pennsylvania’s 12th district, shared her thoughts on community power and recent events through a series of tweets on January 30, 2025. The congresswoman highlighted efforts in local communities and expressed her sentiments regarding a recent tragedy.

In a tweet posted at 15:25 UTC, Rep. Lee emphasized the importance of grassroots community efforts by acknowledging the work of Fineview Citizens Council. She stated, "Community power is built from the ground up, and that’s exactly what @FineviewC is doing! Grateful to join Rhonda Strozier and neighbors at the Our Future Hilltop gathering to talk about our shared fight for housing, investment, and resources for the 26th Ward and beyond."

Later that day at 18:41 UTC, she addressed her concerns over how tragedies are sometimes used politically. She remarked, "Absolutely vile. A tragedy happens, and instead of mourning the lives lost, they use it to demonize marginalized people as they continue stripping our rights away. Not to share facts, not to offer condolences—just to push a bigoted political agenda. Disgusting."

In another tweet posted simultaneously at 18:41 UTC, Rep. Lee expressed her condolences for those affected by the tragedy while urging for truthfulness in its aftermath. She wrote, "My heart is heavy for the families who lost loved ones in this tragedy. May they rest in peace, and may we honor them by demanding the truth—not lies that exploit their loss to fuel hate, misogyny, and white supremacy."
