The Pittsburgh Steelers are preparing for a critical playoff matchup against the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium. Despite entering the game on a four-game losing streak, head coach Mike Tomlin emphasizes that the focus is solely on this week's challenge.

"For us, it's not about being in the tournament. It's not about dreaming about the next month. It's not about pouting over the last month," Tomlin stated during a press conference at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex. He highlighted the familiarity between both teams as they meet for the third time this season.

Tomlin acknowledged recent struggles, particularly with red zone defense and offensive slow starts, but expressed confidence in addressing these issues. "Unfortunately, you probably learn more when there's failure," he noted.

Personnel adjustments may play a role in their strategy. Wide receiver Mike Williams and quarterback Justin Fields could see increased playing time to enhance offensive performance. Williams has shown potential with significant plays despite limited snaps recently.

Fields, recovering from an abdominal injury, might be utilized again in specific packages to leverage his skills alongside starting quarterback Russell Wilson. "I'm certainly open to utilizing Justin," Tomlin said regarding possible lineup changes.

Injury updates reveal rookie right guard Mason McCormick suffered a fractured hand but may still participate against Baltimore after being fitted with protective gear. Cornerback Donte Jackson's back issues will be monitored throughout the week.

The Steelers' postseason history against divisional opponents is strong, holding a 10-2 record overall and 3-1 specifically against Baltimore. However, Tomlin remains cautious due to recent meetings and anticipates strategic complexities: "It doesn't get routine with each matchup."

Despite facing challenges away from home at M&T Bank Stadium, where they hold a 15-14 historical record, Tomlin welcomes the test: "(I've) got a lot of respect for the environment...it's important that we smile in the face of that as a collective."

As preparations continue, defensive tackle Cam Heyward recovers from illness but is expected to play on Saturday.
