On Saturday, the Pittsburgh Pirates will induct three new members into the team's Hall of Fame: manager Jim Leyland, catcher Manny Sanguillen, and outfielder Barry Bonds.

All three individuals have made significant contributions to Pirates history. Leyland, now a Cooperstown inductee, led the team from the lows of the mid-1980s to three division titles. Bonds secured two National League MVP Awards during his time with the Pirates. Sanguillen was part of two championship teams and remains one of the most recognizable figures among Pirates alumni, frequently seen at Manny’s BBQ at PNC Park engaging with fans.

“Never in my dreams did I think I would be a Hall of Famer,” Sanguillen remarked after learning about his induction. “I want to thank everybody here in Pittsburgh, everybody out there, for giving me the opportunity to do what I should do.”

Before their induction, it is worth revisiting some of their standout moments with the Pirates:

**Biggest Games**

Bonds: On August 12, 1991, Bonds played a pivotal role in securing a series win against second-place St. Louis with a two-homer performance that included stealing a base. His second home run in the 11th inning off future Hall of Famer Lee Smith clinched a 4-3 victory for the Pirates.

Sanguillen: On October 16, 1971, during the World Series, Sanguillen had an impressive series at bat with a .379 average and two stolen bases. His three-hit performance in Game 6 contributed significantly to his postseason tally.

**Clutch Hits**

Bonds: On October 13, 1992, in Game 6 of the NL Championship Series against Tom Glavine, Bonds hit a solo shot that opened scoring for the Pirates. This performance helped force a Game 7 behind Tim Wakefield's complete game.

Sanguillen: On October 11, 1979, nearing the end of his career but still impactful, Sanguillen pinch-hit for Don Robinson and delivered a crucial base hit that scored Ed Ott for the winning run in Game 2.

**Milestone Moments**

Bonds: On September 18, 1992, Bonds became the only player in Pirates history to achieve a 30-steal and 30-homer campaign twice. He hit his milestone home run off Phillies lefty Terry Mulholland during his MVP campaign.

Sanguillen: On October 4, 1980, in one of his final Major League games, Sanguillen notched his career’s 1,500th hit as a pinch hitter for Pascual Perez.

Additionally noteworthy is Sanguillen's participation on September 1, 1971 when he caught for MLB’s first All-Minority lineup and contributed offensively with a home run as part of a multi-hit game against Philadelphia.
