662 coaches at institutions in Allegheny County earned $106,914 on average in 2022

Allegheny County’s 662 coaches earned an average salary of $106,914 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the highest average salary per county earned by coaches at Pennsylvania post-secondary schools during 2022.

Allegheny County is home to nine post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, University of Pittsburgh-Pittsburgh Campus stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $993,789.

Male coaches of men's teams received $262,508 on average in Allegheny County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $69,958.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
