The Pittsburgh Steelers selected Will Howard in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. He was picked out of Ohio State with the 185th overall selection.
Howard’s college career began at Kansas State before he transferred to Ohio State, where he played for one season. Throughout his college career, he appeared in a total of 50 games, completing 767 of 1,202 passes for a completion rate of 63.8%. He amassed 9,796 yards with 83 touchdowns and only ten interceptions.
During his time at Ohio State, Howard started all 16 games and led the team to a school record of 14 wins and a victory in the College Football Playoff National Championship. He completed 309 out of 423 passes for a total of 4,010 yards and achieved 35 touchdowns. His completion percentage set both personal and school records, including an Ohio State record for eight games with at least an 80% completion rate.
In recognition of his performance during the season, Howard was named Most Valuable Player in two significant victories: against Texas in the Cotton Bowl and against Notre Dame in the CFP National Championship.
Prior to joining Ohio State, Howard led Kansas State to win the Big 12 title in 2022. This included a triumph over Texas Christian University in the Big 12 Championship game. During his tenure at Kansas State, he set a school record with his impressive tally of passing touchdowns—48 overall—and tied another single-season school record by throwing for 24 touchdown passes in the year following that achievement.
Howard’s early promise was evident when he finished first place in the Punt Pass & Kick Competition back in 2014 as part of USA Football’s Play60 program.
