AHN Westfield Memorial Hospital in Westfield, New York, has introduced a new mobile MRI service for its patients. The hospital will offer MRI scans every Tuesday and Saturday using a mobile unit equipped with a 1.5 Tesla Siemens MAGNETOM Viato.Mobile system. An official ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to mark the start of this program.
The mobile MRI coach is positioned on a dedicated platform next to the ambulance entrance of the hospital. It features two separate entrances for added safety and privacy for both patients and staff. A soft-seal oversized airbag system connects the unit to the hospital, ensuring that patients are not exposed to outdoor conditions during their visits.
This transportable MRI unit received FDA clearance in late 2023 and brings advanced imaging technology directly to hospitals and remote areas. Its design aims to improve access for patients who need urgent or routine scans by reducing travel requirements and providing high-quality diagnostics in locations where traditional fixed MRI rooms are not available. The unit offers AI-driven scan acceleration through Deep Resolve technology and personalized exams with BioMatrix Technology.
The mobile MRI initiative is part of a broader program developed by Allegheny Health Network (AHN), which works with Insight Rayus Radiology at multiple sites within AHN’s network.
“Allegheny Health Network has invested over $1 million to bring MRI services to Westfield Memorial Hospital, further enhancing its commitment to provide care to its patients close to home,” said WMH President, Chris Clark, DO. “This investment goes hand in hand with WMH’s recent designation as a Rural Emergency Hospital and further illustrates how this designation will benefit the community.”
MRI scans at AHN Westfield Memorial Hospital will begin this week.
