T.J. Watt, an outside linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers, played a crucial role in their recent game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Despite the team’s 27-13 loss, which brought their record to 10-4, Watt’s performance stood out significantly.
The Steelers’ outside linebackers were expected to make a substantial impact for a chance at victory. They combined for 17 tackles, including three tackles for loss, three sacks, four hits on the quarterback, and one forced fumble. Watt contributed seven tackles, including one for loss, two sacks, and a forced fumble on the Eagles’ first offensive possession that Beanie Bishop recovered. As a result of his efforts, Watt was named the Steelers Digest Player of the Week.
Other players considered for this recognition included inside linebacker Patrick Queen with 11 tackles and one hit on the quarterback; outside linebacker Alex Highsmith with eight tackles (two for loss) and one sack; quarterback Russell Wilson who completed 14-of-22 passes (63.6 percent) for 128 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions; wide receiver Calvin Austin III who caught five passes for 65 yards; tight end Pat Freiermuth who caught three passes for 22 yards including a nine-yard touchdown; and placekicker Chris Boswell who was successful on both field goal attempts this game and has converted 38-of-41 attempts (92.7 percent) this season.
