March in Pittsburgh offers a range of free events for University of Pittsburgh students and the local community. The university’s event calendar provides more information about activities throughout the month.
On March 4, students can attend a dried flower art workshop at the Stress Free Zone in the Recreation and Wellness Center. Participants will create paper crafts such as bookmarks or art pieces using dried flowers. Afterward, University Counseling Center counselors will be available for those who wish to share their experiences.
A professional attire swap is scheduled for March 16 at the Cathedral of Learning’s Room 3504. Students are encouraged to bring clothes to donate and exchange them for new items from the David C. Frederick Honors College’s Dress for Success Closet, which aims to help students prepare for internships and job interviews.
The Nationality and Heritage Rooms program is marking its centennial this year. On March 19, Alumni Hall’s Connolly Ballroom will host a documentary premiere celebrating 100 years of these rooms and their role in highlighting ethnic communities within the region. Attendees must register in advance but can participate free of charge.
From March 19 through March 28, the Pittsburgh Fringe Festival returns with over 40 performances across various city venues. Offerings include plays, puppet shows, poetry readings, and live music. Many shows are open to all without cost; details on scheduling and locations are available online.
The HerStory Slam takes place on March 23 at William Pitt Union’s Lower Lounge. This annual Women’s History Month event invites members of the Pitt community to share personal stories about womanhood. Those interested in participating have until March 9 to submit their stories.
Transgender Day of Visibility activities occur on March 31 at William Pitt Union. The morning health bazaar features campus resources, stylist sessions, and refreshments tailored for queer individuals. Afternoon programming includes free pizza, vendor booths from local businesses, and interactive activities designed to foster community connections.

“It’s internship season, which means it’s the perfect time to level up your professional wardrobe,” state representatives from the Dress for Success Closet initiative.
