Pictures capture moments that resonate with many, and the Pittsburgh Steelers are sharing some of these historical images through their ‘Picture Perfect’ series. This initiative will highlight photos that narrate the team’s history.
The latest feature focuses on Troy Polamalu’s Hall of Fame Enshrinement. Known for his humility and selflessness, Polamalu’s career achievements were celebrated during the Pro Football Hall of Fame ceremony for the Class of 2020. Despite testing positive for COVID-19 before the event, he was cleared to participate and received his Gold Jacket.
During his speech, Polamalu expressed gratitude towards those who supported him throughout his journey. “Thank you to everyone who has been a part of my journey to make this feat possible,” he said. He also reflected on the culture within the Steelers organization, emphasizing virtues like humility and service.
Polamalu’s illustrious career includes being a two-time Super Bowl champion and an eight-time Pro Bowler. His contributions to football were acknowledged by former teammates and coaches, including Bill Cowher and Dick LeBeau.
In addition to discussing football, Polamalu spoke about his family and American Samoan heritage. “I am a first-generation American Samoan,” he stated proudly during his address.
Polamalu concluded by expressing love for Steeler Nation: “I love God… I have all of you, my family, the biggest family in the world.”
