After a decisive overtime victory against the Vegas team, Tristan Jarry passed the player of the game helmet to Erik Karlsson, who had scored the winning goal. The defenseman responded to Jarry, “I would give it to you back if I could.”
Mike Sullivan credited Jarry as the key factor in that match and in Sunday’s game against Minnesota. This was Jarry’s first NHL appearance since January 14 after spending time with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League due to performance inconsistencies.
Jarry reflected on his challenges, stating, “It was a tough time for me. It was something that I had to work through… Coming back here, I wanted to put my best foot forward and show the Penguins that I could do it.”
The Penguins acknowledged Jarry’s past achievements and recognized his resilience during this period. Sidney Crosby remarked on Jarry’s ability to overcome adversity: “I think being put in that situation… says a lot about him and his work ethic.”
In his return against Minnesota, Jarry successfully stopped 29 of 30 shots leading to a 3-1 win. Bryan Rust praised his performance with enthusiasm: “He was awesome tonight… He’s come right back up here, great attitude.”
Back home from a three-game trip including trade deadlines, Jarry continued strong performances. Sullivan described him as “spectacular,” adding that he appeared confident and effective in goal.
Off the ice, teammates noted no change in Jarry’s demeanor or personality upon returning. Karlsson commented positively on this consistency: “It’s easy to get down on yourself… he’s proven that he’s capable of winning games for us.”
