The Triple Take team, comprising Dale Lolley, Matt Williamson, and Mike Prisuta, recently assessed the top interior offensive line (IOL) prospects for the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft. This analysis comes as teams prepare for the draft in April.
Dale Lolley highlighted the increasing value of guards and centers, noting that “Guards and centers don’t typically get a lot of love – unless you don’t have them.” He pointed out the Chicago Bears’ proactive trades for Joe Thuney and Jonah Jackson to strengthen their offensive line. The draft class lacks standout IOL talent, which might prompt some teams to consider moving tackle prospects inside.
Lolley’s top pick is Tyler Booker from Alabama, described as “a masher’s masher” with impressive physical attributes but lacking athleticism. Other notable mentions include Donovan Jackson from Ohio State and Grey Zabel from North Dakota State.
Matt Williamson discussed the differences between this year’s center class and last year’s exceptional group. He observed that “NFL free agency showed us that the league overall isn’t really high on this group of interior offensive linemen.” Williamson’s rankings place Grey Zabel at the top due to his versatility and performance at both guard and center positions.
Mike Prisuta emphasized the importance of flexibility among linemen. He cited Mekhi Becton’s successful transition from tackle to guard with the Philadelphia Eagles as an example of how position changes can benefit players’ careers. Prisuta ranked Grey Zabel first, followed by Tyler Booker and Donovan Jackson.
Overall, while there may not be a wealth of elite IOL talent in this draft class, strategic selections could prove valuable for NFL teams seeking to bolster their offensive lines.
