This week in City of Pittsburgh history.

Died May 11, 2013, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

John Bradshaw Butler died on May 11, 2013, in Pittsburgh. He spent his NFL career as a cornerback for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 1951 to 1959. He recorded 52 career interceptions and played in four straight Pro Bowls. Butler retired after a leg injury. He then led the BLESTO Scouting Combine for over 40 years, helping advance NFL scouting. In 2012, he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Butler remained closely tied to Pittsburgh throughout his life and career.
