U.S. Representative Summer Lee, who represents Pennsylvania’s 12th district in Congress, posted a series of tweets between March 6 and March 9, 2026, addressing local innovation efforts, concerns over the use of artificial intelligence in schools, and U.S. military actions abroad.
On March 6, Lee highlighted Pittsburgh’s role in technological advancement with the grand opening of a new robotics facility. She wrote: “Last Friday’s grand opening of the Robotics Innovation Center is a declaration that the future of robotics will be built with Pittsburgh’s hands. The future of innovation will include Pittsburgh’s workers, and the future of this economy will run through communities that look https://t.co/114P4BmX6l”.
The following day, on March 7, Lee raised concerns about federal immigration enforcement using data from school surveillance systems powered by artificial intelligence. She stated: “ICE is using data from AI-based school surveillance to aid and abet their mass deportation efforts. If Microsoft is going to continue working with ICE, teachers are rightfully concerned about using Microsoft’s AI tools in the classroom while their students are being deported. https://t.co/Qq41hmrEwq”.
On March 9, Lee criticized past U.S. military actions overseas and called attention to public opposition to further conflict. She tweeted: “Our tax dollars paid to blow up an elementary school in Iran, and Trump lied about it. These are the real costs of war. The American people don’t want another endless war and they don’t want our military killing children. https://t.co/z5Udl5Rm1o”.
Lee has served as the representative for Pennsylvania’s 12th District since 2023 after replacing Mike Doyle. Before her election to Congress, she was a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 2019 to 2022 and has lived most of her life in Pittsburgh and Swissvale.
She holds degrees from Pennsylvania State University (BA) and Howard University (JD).
