U.S. Representative Summer Lee, who represents Pennsylvania’s 12th district in Congress, has recently used her social media platform to highlight issues related to infrastructure funding and labor rights in Western Pennsylvania.
On August 31, 2025, Lee addressed the challenges faced by Bridgeville regarding infrastructure funding, stating: “Bridgeville had big plans to build infrastructure to control flooding, but the Trump admin pulled their funding at the last minute. Folks here in Western PA should never have to worry about a flood destroying their homes or businesses. I’m proud to work with local leaders like https://t.co/RvZFntYcK6”.
The following day, September 1, 2025, Lee marked Labor Day by expressing support for union workers in Pittsburgh: “Pittsburgh is a union town, and we’re proud of it. Labor is at the forefront of the fight against authoritarianism, because we know solidarity is stronger than any dictator. To our union workers this Labor Day and every day–I’ve always got your back https://t.co/uEJZIPxrW3”.
Continuing her focus on labor issues, Lee posted on September 2, 2025: “It’s well past time that we empower our unions and let workers govern themselves. We need democratic unions for all. Proud to introduce the Union Participation for All Act to put power back in the hands of the people. https://t.co/0DVwLpJnMA”.
Summer Lee has represented Pennsylvania’s 12th District since 2023 after succeeding Mike Doyle in Congress. She previously served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 2019 to 2022. Born in Pittsburgh in 1987 and currently residing in Swissvale, Lee graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a BA and earned her JD from Howard University.
